Common Issues
A collection of frequent problems and solutions. Grouped by area.
Geometry and drawing
A facet doesn't appear where I expect
Possible causes and fixes (try in order):
- Facet detection hasn't been activated on this layer. Detection is off by default in a fresh project. Open the Facets panel once — the app scans the current layer, and any closed loops appear as facets immediately. From then on, auto-detection stays on for this layer during the session.
- The edge loop is open. Zoom in and check each edge of the boundary. Look for tiny gaps between nodes that look connected but aren't. Use Move point to drag one node onto the other — if they are on the same layer, they will merge into a single vertex.
- Boundary edges are on different layers. All edges that bound a facet must belong to the same layer. Redraw any mis-layered edges on the correct layer.
Two facets merged into one
Cause: Two areas share a boundary but no dividing edge exists.
Fix: Draw the missing edge between the two areas. Both facets will appear.
Snap doesn't lock onto the point I want
Cause: The target is outside the snap radius, or another point is closer.
Fix:
- Zoom in so the target node is within the visible snap range.
- Watch for the green highlight — it shows exactly which object will be snapped to.
I accidentally deleted an edge
Fix: Undo is not available in the current version. Redraw the edge manually — snap to the existing endpoints when placing the new nodes.
Scale and measurements
Measurements don't match the real plan
Cause: Scale was set incorrectly or the wrong real length was entered.
Fix: Use Reset scale in the Draw panel. Redo the scale flow with a longer, more verified reference distance.
Scale warning shows in the editor
Cause: Scale hasn't been set, or was cleared.
Fix: Click the warning, or use Reset scale from the Draw panel to open scale setup.
A flat area is much smaller than the real area
Cause: Steep pitch — this is correct behavior.
Fix: No action needed. Real area represents shingle coverage, which is always ≥ flat area for pitched roofs.
Edges and facets
Slope direction arrow doesn't show up
Cause: One of the required inputs is missing.
Fix:
- Verify the facet has pitch assigned (Facets panel).
- Verify at least one edge around the facet is classified as a ridge or eave.
- Check that pitch is greater than
0/12— flat roofs don't show arrows.
The slope arrow points the wrong way
Cause: Auto-detection picked the wrong ridge/eave based on current classification.
Fix: Use Set Slope Direction in the Facets panel. Click the facet, then click the intended eave edge.
An edge didn't change type when I clicked
Cause:
- The layer is locked.
- The click missed the edge.
- No edge type is active in the panel.
Fix: Unlock the layer, ensure a type is selected, and click precisely on the edge (zoom in if needed).
Layers
New edges are added to the wrong layer
Cause: The active layer is not what you think.
Fix: Click the correct layer in the Layers panel, then continue drawing.
Cross-layer attachment doesn't create a duplicate
Cause: The target node is outside the snap radius, or you're snapping to a guide intersection rather than a real node.
Fix:
- Zoom in closer.
- Verify a green highlight appears on the target node before clicking.
Deleted the wrong layer by mistake
Fix: Layer deletion can't be undone. If you saved before the deletion, reopen the saved project to recover. Save frequently.
Projects and reports
Project didn't save
Cause: Network issue or server error.
Fix:
- Check your internet connection.
- Look at the toast notification for the exact error.
- Click Save again — autosave also retries.
Report generation fails
Cause: Missing scale, pitch, or classified edges.
Fix: Complete the missing pieces. The wizard usually tells you what's missing.
Downloaded PDF looks incomplete
Fix: Regenerate the report and download again — downloads can be interrupted.
Can't open a saved project
Cause: Wrong account or server unreachable.
Fix: Sign out and back in with the correct account. If the list is empty but shouldn't be, check your internet connection.
Interface and performance
The cursor jumps around when I click on a node
Fix: Pre-existing behavior has been addressed, but if it still occurs, reload the page (F5) to pick up the latest version.
The editor is slow on a large roof
Cause: Many layers or many edges — a very complex roof plan.
Fix:
- Hide layers you're not editing.
- Lock finished layers to disable editing interactions.
- Close other browser tabs to free memory.
A dialog opens but looks wrong size
Fix: Reload the page (F5). Dialog sizing can misbehave on first open after a long session.
Still stuck?
If a problem isn't listed here, try:
- Reload the page — many visual issues clear after reload.
- Save and reopen — a clean state loads the project from the server.
- Contact support — provide the project name, the browser you use, and a screenshot of the issue.
